RAVE REVIEWS FROM WORLD'S FAIR!

Fred's Flying Circus headquarters were overjoyed to receive a copy of World's Fair and we are still dancing round the offices after reading what they wrote about us! Last April Andy Payne came over to see us in Sunny Worthing and was obviously very impressed with what he saw. Andy ends the article by saying "This show may be small but it is non-stop fun all the way with something for children and adults alike. It is a great show to visit and has a warm, friendly feel that the audience on our visit appreciated and enjoyed." Thank you Andy!

If you've never seen the show then PLEASE come along and see us at Easter at Brooklands in Worthing. I will post actual dates and details once they are confirmed. For those who come and visit us every year - we'd LOVE to see you again - it's great how you keep laughing at the same old rubbish... I mean incredible showmanship and talent! aahem! :).

BARGAIN HUNT, BAUBLES AND WHITE BEARDS!!

A day at the races!

It's been a busy season here at Circus headquarters. Normally the Circus tent is packed away for the winter but this year we gave it a special treat and went to the races!!! Fontwell is just down the road and a couple of days before Christmas Chi Chi and I went to put up the tent in preparation for the Fontwell family Race day on Boxing Day. The weather was a bit blustery but luckily we had plenty of helpers to help keep the tent from being whisked off while we battened down the hatches! Boxing Day was great and Fred and I opened up the tent for the day to run workshops... there were children spinning plates and Mum's and Dad's brushing up on their juggling skills all day!
December kicked off with our filming the Bargain Hunt auction... it was one of our most exciting days ever... watch this space and we'll let you know when to tune in to see whether we we won a fortune... or not!

The absolute highlight of December has been playing Santa and his naughty Elf (Chi Chi of course!). Fred and Chi Chi played the part at themed restaurant evenings where Fred had all the women queuing up to sit on his lap (HILARIOUS!!!!!) and then they did some great children's Christmas parties for the forces. Fred and Chi Chi absolutely LOVED it and everyone commented what a great Santa he made... never thought I'd be Santa's Mrs!!!
The bookings are still coming in which should keep them out of mischief over the winter.
That just leaves me to say Have an absolutely splendiferous Christmastime and a wonderfully warm and happy new year.
A HUGE thank you to everyone who has booked us or come along to see us this year - it really has been our best and happiest season ever.

CIRCUS GOES LOOKING FOR A BARGAIN!!!

OOOOh, it's been busy here at the Circus head office... Fred and Chi Chi have many a tale to tell and have been non-stop performing for private parties and cabarets from London to New York!!! Yes... China's dreams have come true and as we speak she is over in the big apple with another couple of performers putting on shows in a theatre in Manhattan... I've never seen her as excited! The other main event of the month was becoming contestants in Bargain Hunt!!! They were both SO excited - as was I - as Fred and I usually have a lunch date with the programme every day of the week. They have yet to take their amazing buys to auction and the whole thing will be televised in the new year... watch this space...
To top all the events Mrs Fred... yes ME, turned 50!!!! Fred was husband of the year and took me on a surprise birthday treat... a week sailing up and down the Stratford canal. We celebrated at the end of the week as no-one fell in - not even Henry the mind reading dog - and we only had one 'difficult' moment when we were trying to turn the boat around... I had sense of humour failure as boats just don't do what they're told but luckily Fred came to the rescue with a pole and guided the boat out of a sticky end... Here's me back on form and at the helm! And then one of me blowing out the candles on my chocolate hedgehog cake which my sister and niece kindly surprised me with in the restaurant! (thank you - I've never eaten Hedgehog before... yum!)

FRED GOES LIVE!!!

It's been a bit busy at Fred's Flying Circus headquarters... driving up and down the M1 motorway, discovering Krispy Kreme lemon meringue donuts (AMAZING!!!), making popcorn and teaching some truly DELIGHTFUL children how to be as skilled and as daft as Fred and Chi Chi. A HUGE thank you to all the children and staff at Jerome School in Norton Canes - you treated us like royalty and the many cups of tea and friendly faces were much appreciated! Thanks also to the team of 'muscle' who stayed behind after the show on Friday to help take down... you do win the prize for getting the stakes out of the most difficult ground this year. At one stage we thought we would need to find a Land rover and a rope to get them out but your brute force and determination got the better of them!
Also a big thank you to the wonderful children we taught at Huncote near Leicester. We only had just over an hour to teach you the whole routine and you did it all SO perfectly...

We're back home now and I've been busy setting up a brand new website for Fred... It's quite basic at the moment but images and videos will be going up over the next few days so keep checking him out at www.freddelius.co.uk

Flying circus nearly flies away!

The sun is shining, the tent is up and at the moment I can hear Fred and Chi Chi in the big top amazing and amusing the children in the morning workshop.
We arrived here at Jerome School in Norton Canes, just outside of Cannock on Tuesday night to a great reception of smiles and tea a plenty.... but also plenty of wind!!! It was still rather strong after Monday's gales and so we set about bashing stakes in with our sturdy helpers. On Wednesday morning the wind had died down enough to lift the lid and the children gathered on the playground to watch the big top go up - now you don't see THAT every day at school!
Today and tomorrow night the school children will be working with Fred and Chi Chi and tonight they will be starring in their own circus show.

Back on the road...

The schools are back and after a summer of fun, cabaret and entertaining the public we are back on the road for our last few gigs with our beautiful little big top (before it gets too cold and dark for Mrs Fred to be out camping!!!). We've just packed up the van and in a couple of hours will be heading off to Cannock in the midlands to spend some time at Jerome Primary School. Then on Sunday we head 50 miles East to the Blaby festival where we will be working with a group of children to put on a circus spectacular later in the day... watch this space for photos!

And finally... Have you heard of horse manning?... it's a craze that started in the 1920's named after the headless horseman and we just HAD to have a go!!! It's brilliant fun... go and google it now and see how others have beheaded themselves!

Up up and away!

We were up early this morning and by 9.30 I was tootling round to pick up Chi Chi and Kate - our glamorous helpers! We met up with Fred to pick up the caravan and we were soon arriving at Shoreham airport where it was a hive of activity! As we came in on the A27 a hurricane was coming in to land and stall holders were on the airfield setting up for the weekends events.
The first thing out of the van were the teabags and the doughnuts... and by the time the kettle had boiled our great friend The Incredible Mr Marsh (www.rufusmarsh.co.uk) had arrived to lend a hand. Other helpers were slow to turn up and so even yours truly took up a sledge hammer. Don't think I was MUCH help but was quite proud of the fact that I drove 3, 4ft stakes into the ground when normally I wimp out half way through the first one. The medal does have to go to The Incredible Mr Marsh (otherwise known as Rufus) as he drove in the majority of the stakes and quickly took the nickname of 'the machine' as he just didn't stop!

We will be back at the Airshow first thing tomorrow morning to help lead the procession at 9.45. The circus tent will be open all day both Saturday and Sunday so DO come in to see us.
